University Antisemitism May Force Federal Funding Cut

Speaker Johnson says congressional investigation is underway.

House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana suggested that colleges and universities that fail to address antisemitism on their campuses may have their federal funding cut. Speaker Johnson indicated the House may consider rescinding the federal funding universities receive if antisemitism on their campuses is allowed to remain.

“We’ve launched an investigation here in the House of all this federal funding that these institutes receive, and we have to demand accountability in every possible way. I think everything’s on the table right now,” Speaker Johnson said. “We have to have accountability. It is inexcusable. These institutions are receiving so many taxpayer dollars when they can’t even stand up for the basic human rights of their Jewish students?”

Referencing the testimony of three elite university presidents before a House committee, the speaker said, “We sort of know the hypocrisy exists there, but you’ve never seen it on such a glaring display.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Speaker Johnson as he heads the House of Representatives.
  • For members of the Senate as they continue negotiations surrounding federal funding.
  • For wisdom for federal legislators as they deliberate ways to deter antisemitism.
